Hopper - Covered
PRR #255928
This Hopper likely belongs to the PRR H32 covered hopper class
(numbers beginning with 255 and 256). H32s were built in the
PRR's Altoona shops from July to October 1948. They featured
modern, all-welded construction. These cars had four different
Pennsylvania Railroad paint schemes over time. Some H32 cars
later served under Penn Central and Conrail. H32s were developed
to transport lighter commodities that reached the maximum load limit
before filling the car's full capacity.
