Caboose
PRR #477004
The N-5 was the Pennsylvania Railroad's first caboose built with all-steel
construction. These cabooses featured a central cupola with windows, which
allowed the crew to have a clear view of the train. The design of the N-5
caboose is noted for its streamlined roof. Production of the N-5 class cabooses
began in 1914 and continued until 1942. It was designed and built at the
Pennsylvania Railroad's Altoona, PA complex.
