40' Double Door Steel Boxcar- equipped with racks for auto parts service.
PRR Class X37B - built 1940-41 by the PRR. Some Details:
5/5 dreadnaught ends, 9 panel sides (4 to left, 5 to right of door),
Straight side sills from bolster to bolster, 12'6" double doors (7' & 5'6"),
Wood roofwalk, 6 rung elevated ladders - grab iron for 7th bottom rung,
X29-style lap panel roof w/ depressions for end walks, and Equipped with racks
for automobile side panels and transmissions. The first batch of cars
(Road Numbers 64400-65399) featured Youngstown doors and began arriving in
1940. The second batch (66900-67399) featured Superior doors and arrived in
1941. The first 500 cars were built with 2D-F8 trucks and the last 1,000 with 2D-F12 trucks.
