Boxcar
PRR #24303
40' 50 ton all steel boxcar classified as an PRR X29 family
member. Many built between 1924-1934. Many cars
were rebuilt with cushioning units and used for transporting
auto parts. This particular car was configured to transport
grain (notice the door was removed and replaced with a wood
barrier). The slogan "Don't Stand Me Still" was associated
with the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) and was used to promote
efficient freight movement. It appeared on rolling stock,
posters, and even employee paychecks, encouraging faster service
and better utilization of railcars. The slogan is linked to
a campaign that began around 1955, according to the Pennsylvania
Railroad Historical and Technical Society.
